On 3–13 of June 2026, at the VGAC gallery “Kairė-dešinė” is being presented Vilnius Academy of Arts’ Graphic Arts Bachelor’s diploma exhibition “iškiliagiliaplokščia”.
“iškiliagiliaplokščia” is an exhibition aimed at showcasing the young, emerging generation of graphic artists and the expanding expression of contemporary printmaking, which contains both traditional printmaking methods and the increasingly clear connection of the graphic image / phenomenon with the interdisciplinary field.
The Vilnius Graphic Art Center gallery presents the bachelor’s diploma projects of three young artists’ – Vėjūnė Leškytė’s, Justina Tamulevičiūtė’s, and Laura Valiūnaitė’s – print installations created using intaglio, silkscreen, and lithography techniques. Using different printmaking technologies, artists explore and create a connection with the world through visuality, using print as a tool for communication and thought transfer.
Vėjūnė’s intaglio project “Pencil Has Two Ends” is a research on graphite as a matter and a “simple” graphite pencil. The main artwork’s line of the narrative becomes a pencil, as a position of power equivalent. Supervisor – Assoc. Prof. Elena Grudzinskaitė.
Justina, in the project “Human-Image Connection”, as if playing, explores calculated, but at the same time intuitive processes of image perception in the human imagination, using color, shape, and composition. Supervisor – Prof. Marija Marcelionytė-Paliukė.
Laura, in her artistic practice and final project “up close”, brings plants found in nature, studies forest organics with a microscope, aiming to highlight invisible forms and create abstract landscapes. Supervisor – Prof. Jolanta Mikulskytė.
Each hall – an exhibition of “iškiliagiliaplokščia” is a unique and independent viewpoint of the world, and altogether – a sensitive look at the current important matters of the expanding field of young artists.
* This exhibition is part of the VAA graduation show exhibition.
** During the Culture Night event, the artists of the exhibition will present the stories of the created projects live. The artists will welcome Culture Night visitors on June 12, from 6 p.m. until midnight.
