Petras Repšys. Drawn Stories. Etchings and Drawings

The exhibition of etchings and drawings by Petras Repšys (born in 1940) and its accompanying catalogue Drawn Stories were for the first time presented in Italy, at the Art and History Library in Bologna (La Biblioteca d ‘Arte e di Storia di San Giorgio in Poggiale), in 2013. An enlarged exhibition was shown at the Vilnius Graphic Art Centre in 2014; on that occasion the catalogue was published in the Lithuanian language. The publication consists of several chapters, each devoted to one series of etchings or drawings by Repšys: Diary (1987), Vilnius (1987–1992), Notes from Finland (1991–1992), Conversations with himself in Denmark (1992), Drawings from California (1995) and Improvisations (1972 –). Alongside the foreword by the catalogue’s compiler Giedrė Jankevičiūtė, there are short texts about how these works came into being, also the artist’s portraits by the famous photographers Algimantas Aleksandravičius, Arūnas Baltėnas and Romualdas Rakauskas.
