Exhibition of German photography agency „Ostkreuz“ – ”Views of Germany – 8 attitudes to photography”.
In 1990 the agency „Ostkreuz“ was created in Berlin. It was established by seven people who were well known photographers in Eastern Germany. In the flow of time artists from Eastern and Western Germany joined and formed the group. The agency having 17 members at the present moment is one of most well evaluated and well known art institutions.
Each photo artist has chosen the theme which interests him or her, which reflects the personal experience. The exhibition presents 8 distinctive attitudes to contemporary Germany. However, these are not the views representing Germany. The entirety of created views present contemporary intellect and spiritual conditions of German people. Different photos of this exhibition not only illustrate themes, but also express authentic and expressive views of „Ostkreuz“ artists towards contemporary German political situation, as well as towards the stage and spheres of lives of individual Germans. In spite of the fact that works of German photographers reflecting German culture and history are very different, it is possible to recognize the whole uniting motive of the home country in them. The exhibition presents works by Wolfgang Bellwinkel, Sibylle Bergemann, Annette Hauschild, Ute Mahler, Thomas Meyer, Jordis Schlösser, Anne Schönharting, Linn Schröder.
