Tatjana Diščenko
Artworks of Diščenko, which have always been significant in Lithuanian graphic art context because of their meditation mood, asceticism, blue colouring, usually so alien to graphic art, and a bit constrained academism. Born in Estonia, graduate of Lvov Poligraphy institute, at the moment living in Lithuania, the artist apart from the mentioned, has been working as a composer of animated films for a long time; she has always been getting her creative experience from different cultural traditions and sources.
Due to multiple nature of the artist the artworks of Diščenko have an effect to a viewer which is never straightforward or unambiguous – almost always one meaning is hidden under another, as if a chest with many locks…Fortunately, an artist who perceives an image not only as “a way and manner”, but also as means of communication, always leaves a key to a viewer, with a help of which it possible to open the doors of the artist’s spirit.
